President Trump Seeks To End Birthright Citizenship

In an interview with AXIOS earlier this week, President Donald Trump expressed that he can get rid of birthright citizenship in the United States with an executive order.

The 14th Amendment of the United States constitution states “All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

President Trump sparked a constitutional controversy earlier this week when he called it ridiculous that America is the only country in the world that has to deal with birthright citizenship.

KU Law Professor Lumen Mulligan says this statement is a complete fallacy and we are not the only country with that law.

Wisconsin Republican and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan says the President cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order.
