The Big Event Recap, Possible Changes for 2018 Blog Campus Local News 04/11/201704/11/2017 Tweet Every year The Big Event draws hundreds of volunteers to help around Lawrence and the past weekend was no different. But in 2018 there will be some changes to the largest volunteer event on campus. This weekend nearly 2,870 KU students and staff volunteered around the city. Volunteers did things like landscaping, painting and reorganizing at more than 300 sites. In previous years the big event only allowed volunteers who had signed up beforehand, but this year they allowed walk-ins to make sure all homeowners had the volunteers they needed. The big event committee says they want to change the way they distribute the liability form next year because it created delays this year.
