The Mind Behind Lawrence Police Department’s Twitter Account Blog Local News 03/04/201703/06/2017 Tweet The Lawrence Police Department has gained a large following on Twitter by taking an unusual approach. Many of the tweets from LPD take a comical approach to telling what is going on in the city. Whether it’s joking about National Donut Day or hosting a tweet-along day, public affairs officer Drew Fennelly, who runs the account, says that this is a great way to connect with Lawrence citizens. “I had seen other departments do it on Twitter, so I knew that it could be affective and I realized that that was going to be the best way for us to reach a wider audience in Lawrence,” Fennelly said. You can follow the Lawrence Police Department at @lawrenceks_pd. The department is planning a tweet-along all day for St. Patrick’s Day.
