Kansas Union Seeks to Expand Alcohol Sales

The last time the Kansas Union sold its last beer was 1997, but now a Student Senate campaign is pushing to change the University’s alcohol policies. If the current policies are revised, the Union may be allowed to sell alcohol.

David Mucci, Director of the Kansas Union, said these policy changes benefit everyone in more than one way.

“Increasingly, I think people are looking to use these kind of programs on campus to hold students on campus and give them safe opportunities for this kind of interaction,” Mucci said.

The Kansas Union plans to renovate its first floor. Plans include building a sports pub in the former Jay-Bowl area. The renovation isn’t expected to start until the summer of 2019.
