Women’s Basketball Beats North Dakota

On Sunday, Kansas and North Dakota met for the first time in program history and came out with a win in overtime.

The Kansas defense forced 23 turnovers against North Dakota, which Kansas easily converted into 25 points.

Caelynn Manning-Allen led the team with four blocks and recorded 7 rebounds. Despite not starting, Head Coach Brandon Schneider spoke about her improvement

After sitting out for a one-game suspension, Jessica Washington started for the Jayhawks and led the team in scoring with a season high 19-points. Washington also contributed defensively with this chase-down block to stop North Dakota’s offense.

The Jayhawks trailed the second and third quarters, but erased a 10-point deficit late in the fourth. Timeka O’Neal banked a 3 to tie it up at 65 with just 27 seconds left.

The 76-71 win brought the Jayhawks their second overtime victory of the season.
