KU Swing Society Hosts Halloween Dance Party Blog 10/31/2016 Tweet Halloween is here and the ghosts, ghouls and goblins have come out to play. This time of year, people pretend they aren’t scared but fear eventually takes over, especially when it comes to trying new things. “Just because dancing is scary to some people who have never danced before and they’re like ‘come on, I can’t join that club, I can’t dance’ and we’re like ‘whatever, we’ll teach you,” KU Swing Society co-officer Mary Mitchell said. KU Swing Society hosted a Halloween-themed dance Wednesday night at the ECM. They welcome newcomers each week with no dance experience necessary to attend lessons of the basics of swing dancing, making it easy for anyone in Lawrence to step out of their comfort zone and into their dancing shoes for the night. Later each night, there is a competition round for regulars who may have a little more confidence on the dance floor.
