Proposed Grant for Construction of Lot 90 Costs $30 million Blog News 04/28/2016 Tweet The Lawrence City Commission unanimously voted to allow the Lawrence Transit System to submit a grant application for funding to the U.S. Department of Transportation on Tuesday. The application was approved in the hopes that the grant will fund the new $30 million transit hub that is proposed to be constructed in lot 90. The new transit hub would be home to a four level parking garage and would serve as the core station for all bus traffic on campus. The project has an estimated cost of $30 million. If the grant is awarded, it will provide $15 million, with KU providing $11 million, and the remaining $4 million provided by the city. The U.S. Department of Transportation announces its grant recipients later this fall.
