KU Holds a Tobacco Free Initiative Forum

Student senate has put years of effort into making KU a tobacco free campus, but students at Wednesday’s forum voiced their concerns about the initiative.

Human Resource director Ola Faucher discussed the health benefits of banning tobacco on campus, but students pointed out the potential problems with the plan.

Among their worries were the possibilities of alienating international students who smoke as part of their culture, as well as the safety of students who would have to walk off campus at night to smoke.

The concerned students offered a possible solution of smoking stations on campus.
