The University of Kansas' student run radio station is in the middle of celebrating its 30th birthday.
KJHK's official birthday is October 15th. Reminiscing the past, the station will play songs from the past 30 years on Saturday.
Not only will the station be celebrating a birthday, they will be moving on to bigger and better things. The station is saying goodbye to its home on the hill on North side of 11th street across from the football stadium.
Recently, the university has told KJHK that they must relocate.
KJHK General Manager, Andy Dierks, looks to move the station to the Kansas Union at 1301 Jayhawk Boulevard. Dierks visited different college stations in Oregon and Washington and noticed how the stations were housed in the campus unions. Dierks proposed the idea of moving the station to where the current Herb Harris Student Computing lab is.
The move to the Kansas Union could happen as early as 2007 for KJHK.
