- Apartment fire kills three; suspect charged with murder: A fire that started early on the morning of Oct. 7 at Boardwalk Apartments, near 6th and Kasold, killed three residents. Jason Allen Rose, a 20-year-old Lawrence resident, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated arson in relation with the fire.
