Art and Design students' holiday artwork sale took place yesterday and today on the fourth floor of the Kansas Union. Works from more than 30 undergraduate and graduate students were on display and available for purchase.

The sale featured pieces in a variety of mediums, including jewelry, textiles, ceramics and printmaking.

"It's a good way to advertise the program," says jewelry and metalsmithing student Erica Voetsch. "It shows a wide variety of the work that can come out of the studio."

Each artist priced his or her work based on the cost of materials, and the time spent making the piece. The proceeds from the sale will be divided differently among each department's students.

The Art and Design student art sale has become a tradition. It is completely student-run, and always takes place before Thanksgiving break to give shoppers the opportunity to purchase pieces with holiday gifts in mind.

Ceramics student Sara Edwards says the sale is a good opportunity for the student body to support art students in a venue similar to that of their future careers as artists.
