High School councilors ranked the University of Kansas 12th among public colleges according to academic reputation in this year's US News and World Report survey.
Lisa Pinamonti Kress, Director of Admissions at the Visitor's Center, said she felt proud of the academic standing KU had achieved. She said that Lawrence offered the true college experience and that the study abroad program really set the university apart from other schools.
"It was just very exciting news to learn that we ranked 12th for academic reputation," said Pinamonti Kress. "It truly means the message we are sending out to high school counselors is resonating with them and they are relaying that to their students."
Pinamonti Kress said the recent raking by councilors should encourage more students to choose KU when they are ready for college.
