Running is providing more than health benefits in Lawrence this fall, it's also helping out a new local business. Gary Gribble's Running Sports opened its first store in Lawrence this summer. The store sells a variety of products for runners including shoes and healthy snacks.

The KU running club is also doing their part to keep Lawrence runners going. The KU running club offers a social aspect to keeping in shape. The club meets three times a week at the KU Recreation Center and runs various courses. Having a running partner makes it more enjoyable according to club members.

"People thing you have to sprint to be a runner, but you just have to go out and run and you can go whatever pace. I think a lot more people would enjoy it if they just gave it a chance, " said Heather Douglas.

Whether they are running outside, purchasing running equipment of even selling it, running is playing a key role in the community this fall.
