A new exhibit at the Spencer Museum of Art entitled Time/Frame takes a look at how artists from around the world have interpreted and addressed the concept of time.
The exhibit features various forms of art from the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, and includes works from well-known artists like Andy Warhol and Diane Arbus.
The museum partnered with the Hall Center for the Humanities to host lectures this morning in conjunction with the exhibit. The event brought together KU faculty members from various areas of study to discuss differing aspects and views of the passage of time.
Lecturers were Adrian Melott, professor of physics and astronomy, Mark Landau, professor of psychology, Larry Martin, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, and Susan Earle, curator of European and American art at the museum.
"We want to get people to look at time more broadly, in a very personal way and also in a very cosmic way," Earle says of the exhibit and corresponding lectures.
Time/Frame is on display in the north and south balcony galleries of the museum, and runs through Dec. 14.
