The meter on the bottom of The Community Blood Center's says it all: the need for blood is critical. According to the organization, they need about 580 donors a day to keep up with the needs of the medical community. The reasons to need blood are plentiful, but the supply is low.
Cue the yearly KU Blood Drive. KU students will have all week to contribute and fill the bags that will give people life. The drive will continue through Friday and will be at the Kansas Union and residence halls all week. Students who donate will receive a free T-shirt, along with the satisfaction that each donation can effectively save two lives.
Eligibility for donating is extremely easy: you merely need to be 17 or older and weigh 110 pounds.
If you'd like to donate, email phacommservice@ku.edu with BLOOD DRIVE VOLUNTEER in the subject line.
If you're unable to donate this week but you'd like to schedule an appointment for the future, click here.
