Theatre, one of the oldest forms of entertainment in the world, is struggling to retain an audience. Does the size of audience have an impact on theatre shows? The Answer is no, at least for Ben Cook, a theatre actor at Kansas University. According to Cook, sometimes it is good to have a smaller audience because those few people are a quality audience, who understand what is going on the stage.

Theatre does not seem appealing to young people. For younger generations, new forms of entertainment like TV and movies seem to be more exciting than theatre. Another reason for their declining interest might be the difficulty in comprehending various genres of theatre. The question remains; Does theatre need modification in order to make it more appealing to general audiences? Algis Mazeika, the Lithuanian director who directed the last weeks performances, does not agree that any changes are needed. According to Mazeika, theatre is like church. It will never die and will survive in its pure form.
