Student Protesters gathered on campus today to protest the continued military occupation of Iraq. Several Iraq War veterans were present and spoke out against the war. At one point the crowd chanted, "The Pentagon and the CIA are the real terrorists in the world today."

One of the protest's organizers, Melissa Pluss, said she didn't think all the protesters meant for the chant to be taken literally. She said the inflammatory rhetoric helped attract people's attention.

However, Ben Jefferies, University of Kansas sophomore, said he believed the CIA had more blood on its hands than most terrorist organizations.

"Even though Al Qaeda has performed a lot of recently disastrous attacks...I would say that the CIA has caused for civilian casualties," Jefferies said.

KU Watch was one of the groups that helped organize the hour-long protest.
