Playstation 3 sales dropped by 18 percent last week and it may be due to the cost. Even local gaming sores are having trouble selling these once elusive systems.

Game Guy video games on Massachusetts is one of Lawrence's few video game outlets. While the store does well in selling Playstation 2 and Nintendo products, Playstation 3 sales are not doing well.

"Playstation 3 has had some difficulty I think. The primary issue people have is general price points. It's pretty expensive, $600 for the premier system. You know that kind of takes it out of the range of most kids and college kids," said Brian Harris, manager of Game Guy.

Video game sales in the United States increased 33 percent overall last month. Playstation 2 and Nintendo's Wii are currently leading in sales. Playstation 3 sales are barely beating out those of Nintendo's over system, the GameCube.
