Season ticket holders are receiving attention for profiting on the resale of men's basketball tickets.

Luke Thompson has bought and sold items for a living on ebay for five years. He buys KU men's basketball tickets and sells them online.

"Right now I'm just trying to make a profit," Luke Thompson, KU student said. "Usually 20 percent. It's usually not worth my time to make anything less than that."

The KU Athletics Department is hoping to stop the resale of season tickets for next season.

"But we are discussing it and we will probably discuss some kind of policy as we get closer to next season," said Jim Marchiony, Associate Athletics Director.

After buying season tickets from the ticket office, some buyers sell them. This is legal in Douglas County, but it is frowned upon by the KU Athletics Department. Roger Henry was one of those ticket holders.

"We got a letter from the Athletic Department that said we noticed you sold or attempted to sell your tickets on ebay. If you do that again we will take your season tickets away from you," Henry said.

Although the resale of tickets for more than face value is against KU's policy, some find ways around it.

"Scalping is always going to be around but if you have the inside connection to get those tickets and then sell them, people will do it no matter what. There's no way around it," Thompson said.

The Athletics Department did not say what they plan to implement as the new policy regarding the reselling of tickets, but are going to focus on the issue during the offseason.
