According to numbers released by the municipal court, police issued 848 tickets on the 2000 block of Massachusetts Street in 2005. The citations issued by police on this one-block stretch were the most in a single city block in 2005. The speed limit on the block is 30 miles per hour.

Justin Platt, Gardner freshman, received a speeding ticket on Mass. St. and said he definitely thinks the area is a speed trap.

"At 19th and Mass. at about 11 at night. I was just driving down to my fraternity house and a cop already had pulled somebody over so I figured I could just keep going 44 in a 30", Platt said.

Platt said he will be much more careful when driving on Mass. St. in the future.

Getting caught speeding doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a speeding ticket. Police officers can be lenient depending on the actions of the speeding driver.
