Some KU students are gearing up to turn in film submissions Friday afternoon for this weekend's film festival, sponsored by Apple.

Matthew Mitchell and Blake Henshaw hope to premiere their video this Sunday at the KU iMovie film festival. The film is called iPod Shuffle, and they've been filming it for three days now.

Mitchell said he and Henshaw came up with the idea after being tuned out by so many students with iPods.

"iPods have become an epidemic on campus. And with that, we're thinking so many people listen to so many different types of music. And just by the way someone looks, you classify them as that type of music."

Mitchell said he wants to pay homage to Apple, which is why his video is about iPods, but he also says he's seen plenty of musical stereotypes broken since he started filming.

Mitchell also says that he's guilty of tuning out others in order to get to class on time, but maintains that everyone has their reasons for tuning out.
