KU is saying goodbye to the legendary radio broadcaster Max Falkenstien after 60 years covering Jayhawk sports.
Five facts about Max
2. Max started calling games in 1946 for Kansas on WREN as the "Voice of the Jayhawks."
3. In 2004, Max received the Curt Gowdy Award presented by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
4. In 2001, Max was named the "best college radio personality in the country" by The Sporting News.
5. Max has been calling games with Bob Davis since 1984.

During his career, Falkenstien called more than 17 hundred men's basketball games and 650 football games, earning him several awards along the way.
In 2001, The Sporting News chose him as the best college radio personality in the country. Most recently, Falkenstien was awarded the Curt Gowdy Award in 2004 by the Basketball Hall of Fame.
