The Americana Music Academy gives music lessons to more than 1,300 students a year. Currently, students meet in an old house, and teachers said is not big enough.

The Carnegie Hall Library building would help the school give back more to the community. Its' bigger size would allow for more group classes, and the hall would also allow for a larger music venue for concerts and traveling artists.

Next month the City Commission will decide who will get to occupy the building. The Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department has also requested to move into the vacant building.
