Oklahoma can't win in Phog

Kansas (15-6, 6-2 Big 12) took sole posession of second place in the Big 12 by defeating Oklahoma (14-5, 5-3 Big 12) in a 59-58 thriller Sunday afternoon at Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks trailed by 16 points late in the second half before Brandon Rush hit a three-point jumper to start Kansas on a 21-5 KU run.

Oklahoma controlled the game from the start. OU's big men, Taj Gray and Kevin Bookout roughed up KU's big guys, forcing Kansas to shoot from the perimeter. KU started the game 0-9 on three-pointers.

The 'Hawks started their comback run with a little less than six minutes remaining in the game. KU forced OU to turn the ball over six times during the comback stretch.

With 19 seconds left on the clock, Mario Chalmers nailed what would be the game winning shot. Bookout fell and Chalmers drifted in a two-point bucket.

OU tooke posession of the ball, bringing it down the court when OU Coach, Kelvin Sampson called a time out. KU set up their defense, allowing Brandon Rush to block OU's shot. A tie-up was called on the rebound giving OU another posession with 1.6 seconds left in the game. OU inbounded the ball but a foul was called on the floor. OU had one more second to inbound the ball and score but instead ariballed, giving Kansas their 29th straight win over a Big 12 South school in Allen Fieldhouse.

In the last 10 years of the Big 12, no Big 12 South team has won in Allen Fieldhouse.

KU heads to Lincoln, Neb. on Wednesday to take on the Cornhuskers at 6:30 p.m. in the Devaney Center.
