KU Hillel officials want a headquarters that's a little closer to campus. Currently, the Hillel house is almost a mile away from Jayhawk Boulevard.
Hillel representatives not only want to find a more convenient location, but they want to have a bigger house as well. The current house holds up to 70 people and features wireless Internet, a television room with couches, a large kitchen, games and plenty of study space.
Jay Lewis, KU Hillel Executive Director, said he wishes the house could hold more students.
"We have five or six hundred that come through our door on an annual basis and this building about 35 to 40 is the most we can fit at one time. We do about 75 percent of our programs somewhere else," Lewis said.
KU Hillel is the Jewish student organization on the KU campus.and provides activities for Jewish students, as well as religious, spiritual and social connections.
