The Department of Music and Dance in the School of Fine Arts along with the Hall Center for the Humanities and several other KU departments and institutions, joined together to host a series of piano concerts in honor of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
KU piano professor, Jack Winerock and KU freshman, Nicholas Susi, St. Louis, Mo. say that Mozart instills a lasting influence and impression on listeners.
"For many people, Mozart is their favorite. I think he's very elegant, in many ways very peaceful in a turbulent world. I think many people find that very reposeful and enjoyable, " Winerock said.
"Mozart, to me, is the composer among composers. He composes music purer than any other composer and I think that students sort of begin studying music with him, because you can study his music all through life," Susi said.
Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Admission is free, but there are limited seats available. Contact the Hall Center for the Humanities for more information at 785-864-4798.
