It was a battle of bands Thursday night as both Kansas and Houston fans gathered at Sundance Square in Fort Worth to kickoff the 2005 Fort Worth Bowl with a pep rally.
A local band performed classic hits and the Marching Jayhawks alternated playing fight songs with Houston's band. KU cheerleaders, Rock Chalk dancers and of course Big Jay and Baby Jay were on hand with the hundreds of Jayhawk fans dressed in blue.
KU Head coach, Mark Mangino, took the stage, thanking KU fans for making the trip to Fort Worth.
"KU has taken over Fort Worth!" Mangino said.
Mangino told fans to get ready to cheer the team on to a win and aknowledged his players as the most important people in Fort Worth.
After the pep rally, hundreds of KU fans packed into the Fox and Hound bar and grill where the KU Alumni Association hosted a basketball watch party, so fans in Texas could watch KU take on winless Northern Colorado.
