Kansas State took care of Creighton, defeating them by 10 in Omaha earlier this week, now its Kansas' turn to face the Blue Jays in hopes of extracting some revenge Wednesday night.
Kansas (8-0, 0-0 Big 12) fell to Creighton (2-5, 0-0 Missouri Valley) last year in Omaha but this year is a different story. Kansas is off to its first undefeated start since the 1991-92 season, coming off a double overtime victory over Wisconsin and a narrow victory over Florida International.
This team has momentum headed into their ninth game and with a streak they'd like to keep intact.
Senior, Erica Hallman and freshman, Ivana Catic both said it is a team goal to finish the non-conference season undefeated before taking on Texas, January 3rd in Lawrence.
Offensively, Kansas is off to a better start than last year. In eight games, KU averages 78.1 points per game, scoring over 70 points in each game this year. Out of all their opponents, the ‘Hawks only allowed Wisconsin to hit the 70 point mark this year.
Playing Big 12 Conference teams is nothing out of the ordinary for the Blue Jays, they lost on the road to Nebraska, at home to Kansas State and defeated Colorado in Omaha.
Game time is 7:05 Monday night at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. KU Athletics will sell $2 tickets to Johnson County residents and all fans wearing blue will receive free popcorn.
