If you need a little help getting in the holiday spirit make a stop by the Eldridge Hotel, 701 Mass. St.

Dozens of gingerbread and graham-cracker houses are currently on display at the hotel. The sweet creations were crafted by children and adults from Lawrence. They range in variety from the traditional gingerbread house to unique items like trains, igloos and churches. The creations are required to be made of either graham crackers or gingerbread and they must be edible. The sweet treats will be auctioned off for charity.

Debby Smith, a volunteer for the event, said there was usually a good turnout for the viewing.

"Tons of people, absolutely. Usually I'm really surprised at how many people are actually here at any given point in time during the day," Smith said.

The display will remain set up until Wednesday, December 7, when the houses will be auctioned. Until then all of the houses have silent auction sheets so the public can bid on their favorite creations. The auction's proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Douglas County.
