The previously-inept Kansas offense outgained Nebraska by nearly 300 yards and scored more points against the Huskers than any other Kansas team in history on the way to a 40-15 victory.

A record crowd of 51,750 packed into Memorial Stadium on Saturday to witness another installment in the longest uninterrupted series in NCAA Division I football history as Kansas and Nebraska met for the 100th straight year. The series has been noticeably one-sided for the beter part of the last four decades with the Cornhuskers winning every year since 1968 and posting 10 shutouts during that 36-game winning streak. Saturday though, the Jayhawks were the dominant team.

The Kansas defense unit continued its solid play holding the Nebraska offense to 138 yards of total offense. Kansas quarterback Jason Swanson threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns on 16-of-27 passing with one interception. Mark Simmons caught both touchdowns and had 100 yards receiving on the day. Charlton Keith earned honors as the SBC Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Saturday. Keith had eight tackles, three tackles-for-losses and a quarterback sack.
