A long night on Massachusetts Street or a hectic schedule can be the cause of a lost cell phone. Now a lost cell phone doesn't mean all data stored inside is missing.
Products that backup cell phone data are available at online auction sites, like ebay. The backup devices allow a person to read, edit and save phone numbers on a computer or the device itself. The gadgets are sold for extremely low prices as most are less than five dollars. Students say the rock-bottom prices make the idea of backing up their cell phone data appealing.
"It's not like I have tons of business associates or anything I really need," cell phone owner Tracey Baskins said. "Most of the numbers are family and friends that I could get. So, it would have to be pretty inexpensive."
Cell phone owners can also download saved cell phone data onto a new SIM card if a new phone must be purchased.
Most products also allow the saving of SMS messages and are PC compatible.
