The first of November is a day of celebration for many religions. People of the Catholic and related faiths take the day to celebrate All Saints' Day.
The St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center celebrated three Masses Tuesday to honor the holiday. Roman Catholics celebrate the feast by attending Mass and recognizing those people they believe have died and are now in heaven. The holiday is also celebrated in the Lutheran and Anglican churches. Those that attend Mass are also celebrating religion, baptism and faith.
"It's the way of the church to recognize sanctification of others," said Jayd Henricks, St. Lawrence associate director, "and it's a way for us to aspire to what they've accomplished."
In Latin cultures, Tuesday was the Day of the Dead celebration, a holiday that also celebrates those who have died.
