The University of Kansas Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender programs and services office will be taking part in a national movement starting Wednesday. LBGT will be giving away "Gay? Fine by me." t-shirts to promote gay awareness and support on campus.

The group will be handing out the t-shirts on Wescoe Beach Wednesday morning starting at 11. The shirts are free for all students and staff, but there is a suggested $5 donation with each shirt. LGBT Resource Coordinator Michael Franklin believed KU students were supportive of the gay community and that they would embrace the "Fine By Me" movement.

"I think wearing this shirt is a simple yet very effective way to show support for a highly marginalized group of KU students," Franklin said.

The group also asks all students and staff who have a shirt to come to the Kansas Union Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. to take part in a group photo.
