Douglas County could step out as a leader in the nation.
The county commission is discussing a possible sister relationship with another county in China. If the commission approves the plan, Douglas County would become the second in the nation to have a sister county overseas.
In order to enter a relationship with the county in China, the Douglas County Commission will have to look at all possible effects of the relationship. The factors to consider include cost, economics and how the Chinese government treats its workers. Commissioner Jere McElhaney said that they were seeking advice and information from many sources before making their decision.
The Chinese county lies between Shanghai and Beijing.
