GOP Now Has Enough Support to Pass New Tax Bill

At least 50 GOP senators have said they support the proposed Republican tax bill. Fifty members is enough to pass the bill because Vice President Mike Pence can cast the tie-breaking vote.

The bill now includes a $10,000 deduction for state and local property taxes… That helped secure the vote of Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine. She said GOP leaders are still working through a few more issues, and are making great progress.

Another senator who was previously undecided announced his support. Arizona’s Jeff Flake got the promises he wanted from the senate GOP leadership and the Trump administration. His request was growth-oriented legislation of the deferred action for childhood arrivals program.
