If you got a survey asking about your smoking, it’s because the University wants to know your habits before the start of the campus-wide smoking ban next fall.
The survey asked students, faculty, and staff about particular smoking spots on campus, and the number of times one smokes each day.
The student organization Breathe Easy KU has heavily pushed for a tobacco ban since 2013. They got 2,500 responses in the first six hours which they say tells them more students want a healthier college environment, and it’s not just here in Lawrence.
“It has been a movement for quite a while for universities to go tobacco-free. It’s actually projected that it will be enforced either on a state or national level in the next ten years,” said Savanna Cox.
The survey closes on Thanksgiving break and the University says they’ll conduct another survey once the policy starts.
