KU’s dance department will showcase their talent this weekend at the Lawrence Arts Center. The dance department’s University Dance Company concert will feature choreography by faculty members and guest artists in modern, ballet, jazz, and other dance forms.
This year’s guest artists are Lindsay Hawkins and Andie Stitt. Hawkins danced with St. Louis-based dance company MADCO. Her piece includes quirky, intricate, quick movements that show off dancer’s personalities.
Stitt is a KansasCity-based teaching artist highly renowned in the hip-hop industry. Her piece combines tap and hip-hop to show the angst and rebellious attitudes of young adults.
Performances will be this Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office or online on the arts center’s website.
