The Impromptu Cafe Offers Locally Sourced Dishes in Kansas Union

A tried and true Jayhawk is serving locally sourced, house-made dishes at the only sit down restaurant on the University of Kansas’s campus. Jana Tarver is the head of the Impromptu Cafe, a sit-down restaurant housed on the third floor of the Kansas Union, just outside of the food court.

Traver says the sit-down format of the restaurant is designed to make busy students, faculty, and staff feel like they are being treated every time they choose to eat there.

Several of the herbs and vegetables used for their dishes are grown on the roof of the Kansas Union, and the Impromptu Cafe does offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
