The north part of Lawrence is welcoming two new businesses to the area with open arms.
The Levee Café opened last week and serves traditional breakfast fare, as well as gluten-free and vegetarian options.
The Lawrence Re-Cyclery will move next door to the café within the coming week.
Both businesses are located near the Kaw River Trail, which attracts bikers, joggers and walkers.
Levee Café owner Mary Holt said the close proximity to the river trail attracts a lot of her cliental.
“North Lawrence needs this. It’s right by the running trail, so we get a lot of bikers, runners and walkers,” Holt said. “It’s a dream come true, and it all just kind of synced perfectly together.”
Re-Cyclery owner Brian Shay hopes his store’s new location will continue to grow his business.
“It will hopefully allow us to expand. We’ll be close to the Levee Trail and Lawrence River Trail, and it’s just a larger location,” Shay said.
The Levee Café is open Tuesday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Re-Cyclery is slated to open in its new location on Sept. 18.
