The Kansas softball team wrapped up their non-conference schedule this weekend with a four game home stand. The Jayhawks took on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets late Saturday afternoon for the third game of the weekend.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when sophomore first baseman Daniella Chavez hit a ground out, pushing the go-ahead run from junior infielder Chaley Brickey to put Kansas up 1-0. In the fourth inning, sophomore third baseman Jessie Roane hit her fourth homer of the season, which brought in three runs. This started a nine-run rally on eight hits for the Jayhawks.
Sophomore pitcher Andie Formby struck out two batters in her seventh shutout of the season. Kansas completed their win over Georgia Tech 10-0 in five innings. The Jayhawks went on to sweep the series with the Yellow Jackets with a 12-1 win on Sunday.
