The famous line from Dr. Seuss, “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go,” has inspired a local organization.
The Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary is conducting a book drive that collects gently used books or funds to purchase books to benefit the United Way’s Brain-Food program.
The program’s original intent was to ensure children can enter school ready to succeed and working at proficient level at fourth or fifth grade.
So far there have been more than $3000 donated and more than 1,600 books purchased with that money.
