Debruce Center Open Blog News Sports 04/29/2016 Tweet The DeBruce Center had its soft opening Monday at the University of Kansas after almost a year of construction. The 32,000-square-foot structure houses the Courtside Café, The Original Rules Gift Shop and will eventually display the original rules of basketball. James Naismith’s original rules of basketball will be displayed in the bridge that connects Allen Fieldhouse to the DeBruce Center in weeks to come. The interior walls of the connecting bridge will display quotes from former Kansas basketball coaches and players. The center also has an exhibit that displays facts and photographs of the history of Kansas basketball. The DeBruce Foundation funded the center.
