Police Still Gathering Details About Car Crash into Liberty Hall

Yesterday at around 3 p.m. a car crashed into the store front of Liberty Hall video library store.

The wreck resulted in the injury of the driver and a pedestrian. Lawrence Police Sgt. Troy Squire said both people were taken to the hospital by ambulance, but neither had life-threatening wounds.

Police are still investigating how exactly the car ended up off of the road and through the glass window of the building.

According to a number of pedestrians who observed the events described that the car was avoiding a collision with another car traveling on Massachusetts Street. The quick swerve then sent the car into a spin, and hit a pedestrian on the sidewalk before eventually slamming into Liberty Hall.

Just an hour after the incident, the car had been towed away and the hole in the storefront boarded up.

At this time Lawrence police are still waiting to interview the victims and are continuing to collect information.

As for Liberty Hall, video clerk Sam Gunnerson said, “I have no idea how long it will take to re-open the store.”

Damage estimates are expected to be released soon.
