On this edition of the Jayhawk Sports Report Hank Cavagnaro and Matt Kaufman cover this past week in Jayhawk Sports. Out of the gate the guys covered the Jayhawks twelfth straight Big 12 regular season victory. The team toppled Texas Tech 67-58 in Allen Field house to claim at least a share of the title. The victory gave KU a two game lead over the second place team in the Big 12, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Baylor and Texas. Are not far behind in the rankings either.
Kansas has two remaining games left both against currently ranked teams. Tonight the Jayhawks take on the longhorns in Austin and then finish up the regular season on Saturday against Iowa State. Both of those teams are ranked and will face the number one ranked Jayhawks who took over the top spot on Monday from Villanova. Other big movers in the rankings include Michigan State jumping from six to four and Oklahoma dropped out of the top five to six.
KU women’s basketball is still winless in the Big 12 and only has 5 games on the season. For more information on that game click here. Baseball also dropped three games after winning a pair last week at Hoglund, while Softball went 3-2 on a long weekend tournament.
The men’s Golf team is also leading a tournament coming out of the weekend but is closely followed by first place Illinois. One of the great former golfers at KU, Gary Woodland, also made some headlines as he took a shot in the Hyundai Classic on Sunday as he took a shot from the banks of a water Hazard with his pants off.
